The Pembroke Resources’ team has a proven track record in value creation in the coal industry having worked together in previous successful metallurgical coal projects.
Yoko Kosugi joined Pembroke Resources as Chief Financial Officer in February 2024. Yoko is accountable for finance, commercial and legal functions at Pembroke.
Yoko has extensive experience across corporate and financial services in Australia and Japan, with a unique career spanning global finance, ASX listed corporate and a top Japanese trading & investment house. She has held senior leadership positions in both commercial and finance functions at APA Group, an ASX50 energy infrastructure business; The Royal Bank of Scotland in both Tokyo and Sydney; Citi in Sydney; and Mitsubishi Corporation in Tokyo.
Yoko is a strategic and collaborative leader, who can balance growth agendas with operational excellence. Most recently at APA, she was in charge of a growing balance sheet, (total capitalisation in excess of $20 billion), whilst enhancing team performance, capability and efficiency.
Yoko holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Tokyo as well as completion certificates from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and the Board Director Training Institute of Japan.
Greg Bacon brings a wealth of experience to Pembroke Resources, earned as a mining and minerals processing industry leader over three decades. He has worked in senior operational roles in multiple commodities and within several top tier global companies including Rio Tinto, BHP and Alcoa. In this time, Greg has earned a reputation as a leader capable of delivering exceptional business outcomes in the toughest of circumstances. His career highlights include step changing safety and operational performance in Underground Development at Kestrel Coal, delivering rapid ramp up to design capacity post a troubled expansion of the Yarwun Alumina refinery, and implementing integrated operations planning processes across multiple global operations to increase work execution efficiency to industry leading levels.
Greg also pursued opportunities outside of operations to broaden his experience and skillset, including leading business strategic planning and transformation processes at site and portfolio levels, leading the business audit function for a global mining company and working as an independent consultant to support operational improvement through design and implementation of business operating models for clients in multiple countries including BHP, Vale and Glencore. Greg was attracted to Pembroke Resources with a shared passion to develop the Olive Downs Complex as the best Steelmaking Coal business in the industry and to set the standard for others, not just in operations but for environmental, social and conservation practices. Greg holds an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Queensland.
